Empowering young carers to thrive , not just survive.
Practical help, emotional support and
opportunities to shine—tailored for young carers.
Young Carers are children and young people whose lives are affected by caring for a family member who has long term illness or disability, mental health problems or issues with drugs or alcohol. Caring is not always about practical tasks, our carers can find themselves offering significant emotional support which may impact on their daily life.

REFERRING A YOUNG CARER
Caring is not always about practical tasks.
Children and young people can find themselves offering significant emotional support which can be an impact on their daily life as well as their development.
RYC provides safe spaces for our young carers to discuss concerns, get support and have fun.
Romsey and District Young Carers (“Romsey Young Carers”) is a Charity Incorporated Organisation (CIO) set up to support young carers, aged 8 to 21, who live in Romsey and the Southern Test Valley area.
WE OFFER;
WEEKLY SOCIAL CLUBS
We offer age appropriate youth clubs fortnightly during term time supported by professional staff and volunteers. These clubs allow vital fun time for the young carers and the opportunity to spend time with peers who are also young carers. At clubs we provide a light meal or snack and lots of fun in a safe environment.
TRIPS & ACTIVITIES
Throughout the year Romsey Young Carers hosts a range of fun activities and trips in and around the local area. Our activity program changes year to year and is planned with the young people. We do our best to offer as many new experiences as possible and allow as many chances as possible to return to the best ones! We also offer a residential for each age group each year!
SUPPORT IN SCHOOLS
Romsey Young Carers has really good relationships with the schools across Southern Test Valley. We link with the schools to advocate for our young carers helping them to get the support they need to succeed in school. We also work hard to raise awareness of who young carers are and the challenges they face.
