Romsey Young Carers provides informational assemblies to pupils and students and can train and inform teaching staff to raise awareness of the needs of young carers.
With parents’ permission, Romsey Young Carers can liaise with schools to inform them of the family situation so we can work together to improve things for the young person.
“It made me feel that it really matters what I think - and that it’s not all my fault.” – Izzy, young carer
The exploration groups provide a setting for young carers to discuss what it means to be a young carer and the impact that it has on their lives.
There are two exploration groups being run at Romsey School and one at Mountbatten School. Romsey Young Carers is grateful to both of these schools for their support.
Pupils in year 11 and at college will be offered exploration and transition support during the summer holidays
A more young child friendly version of the exploration groups - 'Primary Exploration' - will soon be run at the Romsey Abbey Primary, Romsey Primary and Cupernham Juniors.
Lunch time drop-in
A drop-in session for young carers is run once a fortnight at Romsey School.
There will be a drop-in starting at the end of June at Mountbatten School.
On 25 June 2014 Romsey Young Carers issued it's first newsletter for schools. It can be viewed by clicking here.
