When looking to recruit new volunteers, we don’t ask that you have any previous experience of working with children and young people. All we ask for is your enthusiasm and commitment, no matter if you can spare a lot or a little of your time.
However, in order to safeguard the young carers on our project all volunteers wishing to work directly with the children will need to undergo an enhanced CRB disclosure. This is a police/ criminal records check to confirm that you present no known risk to children and/or vulnerable adults. You will also need to provide us with the names of two referees who can be contacted for written references.
Once you are on board, we will provide you with all the information and training you will need. We also aim to fit volunteers with activities that suit their particular skills and interests so if there is an area you have a special talent or enjoyment for please let us know.
Whilst Romsey Young Carers is always looking for people to volunteer to help with clubs and activities - and if you are interested in helping with those, brilliant, see how to get involved - we are also currently looking for:
People who are interested in fundraising for Romsey Young Carers. Whilst we do give talks to a number of local groups and organisations, we currently do very little direct fundraising. We are reliant on the generosity of large grant funding charities, the local Council and a number of fantastic local businesses, charities and organisations. It would be good to protect the long term survival of Romsey Young Carers by increasing the amount received from direct fundraising. You might be the missing piece, so please get in contact if this is something you would be enthusiastic about doing.
